"Finger" choils

Actually the balance point is precisely at this substantial finger cutout. This is probably due to the substantial handle. Try one out, and you'll be impressed.

Maybe, but I bought a Swick instead.

I like the short bladed knives, however with the choil set back like on the Yojimbo it seems like a longer bladed knife. I didn't like the Mili, too too long.

The Karambit might be a replacement for me and the Dodo, it's not a priority.

The Captain is at the top of my buying list, for its coolness factor. And the Volpe is a cool looking knife but with no choil I'll keep my money.

;)

The Manix and Para wouldn't be what they are without one. I am so used to them now, when I use non Spyderco knives they feel "off". I like to choke up on the blade when I need extra control. Keep them coming Sal!

I love finger choils, almost (almost) to the point of ruling out knives without them. I convinced my sister, an Army doctor who jogs at Ft. Lewis, where they sometimes have black bear problems, to carry a Native III 3D while jogging. Once she had it in her hand, she realized that nothing would pull it out of her hand.

For myself, I like to use a "pinch" grip when doing fine work, especially with wood. I like my thumb and index finger to be in the same position to each other, as a finger choil allows. To have my thumb extended further up the spine than the index finger is very tiring for me.

In the "byrd" line, we have more models with "Finger choils" than without.

Kinda like introducing the concept to new knife customers (hard to beat the price).

Most of the lower cost knives made by our competitors do not incorporate finger choils. It will be interesting to observe the reactions.

The Endura and the Delica wouldn't be what they are with them. I like choils on some of the models, but across the board change to choils on all models would be a mistake.

For me, choils in folders have limited use. I would prefer to see there use on a limited number of knives. I would really like to see the choil removed from the Chinook. I understand the design idea behind the Chinook. However, it ruins the lines of this knife. Bring the edge back another 1/8 inch and now choil and this is one of the best looking knives going. IMO.

I've found that now that I have some Spydies with the choil, I'm not as fond of the ones that don't have them (e.g. Delica, Endura). For example, I now much prefer my Cara Cara to my Endura, because of the choil on the Cara Cara...

A Kopa is usually EDC, and the choil (and office-friendly look) is/are huge reasons why I like the Kopa.

It's great that you seek input - it shows in your product offerings. Keep up the good work!

I am very partial to finger choils! That is one reason why I like the Navigator series of knives! It allows me to get my full hand on to the knife handle while at the same time I get better control of the blade for detail work.

I agree with this... they are very important on smaller knives. On the bigger ones I like one half between the blad ena dthe handle and anothe directly behind so I have to grip spots.
