OK I was getting ready to go to town noticed my finger nails need trimming.
Being to lazy to go up stairs to get the finger nail clippers. I fired the sander up.
Hey if I can put a 300.00 knife on it, why not do my fingernails and practice my grind control.
Only problem I found I cut myself twice with my newly sharpen nails while I slept . Wife wants to know who scratch the hell out of me.
My question is should i finish them with 600 or just leave it at 400 grit. I don't want them to look too girlie.

I would go to a triaz belt and the a leather wheel with some pink compound. Wear gloves (sheaths) at night when you sleep.

I used to let my nails grow long and then cut them into claw shapes. It was mostly just as a conversation starter. Really freaked out one of my cousins. :D They tended to break off easily, so I quit it.

Maybe you should go back to files and forget this modern
technology. Sit up straight cross your legs and file away! No
that an old pin-up I am remembering "Nevermind"

Maybe danish oil treatment after sanding up to 600 would look good and it is waterproof... I coat 5-8 coats of superglue then sand them with 1000X. I wouldn't suggest to buff them, you know flying nails across the shop is very dangerous, if you'll buff them eye protection and respiratory equipment is strongly advised :)...

I wondered if I was the only one to do this. When I can't find the damned clippers, I go down to the shop and use a 320 belt at low speed, to trim up the nails and then burnish the edges off with a block of wood. Does a heck of a better job than the clippers do.

You all must have long fingernails. If I don't have a clipper, I use a knife-redneck style. If I let them get long enough to use a belt grinder they just get broken off.

Cold blue adds a nice touch.

If you go with Fitzo's advice, you might want to try the hot blue (no pansies allowed in that group!) :D

Real men use a fresh 36 grit........

I guess I don't qualify then, I only used 60 grit for this:

:D

Fitzo and Nick are right on, 36 grit Zirconia, a new one, and then into oxynate #7
at about 285-290 degrees ought to solve any fingernail problems you might have.
Ken.
