Pan Tau, it was not me, I just helped my pal to show off his great work.
As a khukuri "fundamentalist", I emphasize the meaning of the wide "bell" of a khukuri. It enables various moves of a khukuri by adding pressure on one side of the bell, even a stab can be performed. While doing those moves, you don't have to thrust toward the bolster.
Adding a fingerguard will do no harm, so I'm not against anybody who wants to make his khukuri his own way. But, learning to utilize the bell - pull one side, other side, both side, up and down - would give you some more utilization without any cost, and lots of fun! At least it worked for me... It let me know what "Let the khukuri do the job" means.
