Clyde, hi, I think that most of the gloves you mentioned may be a poor choice for stickfighting. I haven't tried all of them, but most with the stick fighting. One of my training partner's also says he doesn't like the Revgear too much, because if you spar with a msk, you can hit your knickle, still. Doce Pares sells some stickfighting gloves that offer the protection of a light to medium hockey glove, but they also provide excellent thumb protection, which, some of you might know, hockey gloves do not. As far as holding the stick, they are open palmed, and stay on your hand via leather straps to your fingers and a nice strap/wrist protection and velcro. I think they have a few models, but I liked the blue one the best. IF you find the site and have a question about which glove it was, you can ask me and I'll look. For lighter contact, or higher confidence, Nike has a padded football reciever glove. It's basically a baseball batting glove with a thin layer of padding on the back of the hand and along the fingers. Definitely not the glove you want to use to your first Dog Brother's Gathering, but it was a nice transition glove for me going to baseball glove. Nike also has it with a Magna Grip feature, which is a tacky non-slip texture on the palm. This is, IMO, one of the best gloves to use if you just want to do some stick drills or practice, etc. Definitely check these out, even if you don't spar or plan to. Champs and Sport's Authority has them. On the www, you can get them at E-bay(?).
Hope that helps.
