I wondered if anyone ever tried to use a wood finish on a horn handle. For example, why not use a varnish, or an oil - like linseed or a tung oil finish?
Is there any reason not to try this?
Arty a finish like varnish or whatever won't let the horn breathe. It's best to treat it with hooflex or a lanolin based product. Do a search on either and you will pull up lots of info.
