What is this stuff?
I've carried my BG-42 Military since October 2006 (everyday) and it's been a reliable, high-performance tool. Pocket clips are always the first part of a knife to show wear. I've banged, scuffed, & scraped this knife across anything you can imagine and aside from surface scratches, the pocket clip is remarkably free of any damage. I'm amazed at how resilient the surface treatment is - no chipping, no deep scratches down to the steel, just some general wear around the edges and hairline scratches. I've seen some clips from other manufacturer's knives that look like they've been coated with spray paint (same price range as my Military).
So what does Spyderco use for the surface coating on the Military clip? DLC? Titanium Nitride? Parkerized? I'm curious because this is some tough stuff.
