Finish Tricks

I used WD40 but hate the smell. I use baby oil now, cheap and smells decent. My main sanding backer is about 6" long. I put my thumbs on top, seems to give me the best control so I don't rock the sanding block.

I do the blade flats then the ricasso. When I do the ricasso I hold that block at a 45 degree so that there's still sandpaper on the ricasso when it goes out along the plunge edge.
 
:)I use "Cool Tool Two" for hand sanding, just a bit from my finger tip rubbed on the blade. Works very well for me.
 
A pretty good general rule is to sand it till you think you're done, and then keep sanding for 30 minutes per side :)
So, in your case that amounts to what? About 13 days PLUS 30 minutes per side?:eek::D
