Finished bowie from all I could get

The original plan was to leave this blade forge finished but along the way I hit it by mistake with an 80 grit belt and the forge finish was lost. This is the blade I ended up breaking 2" off the tip while trying to straighten during heat treating. I ended up forging another tip and this is what the knife looks like today. The blade is 5160, 12 5/8", fittings are iron and the handle is a really nice piece of sambar stag. 18" overall.

Wow, looks great! I like the fittings, for sure.

Is this the one you recently posted that was forged from a piece of rod stock?

Geez Ray if you had that 2" on the blade you would need to buy a wide angle lens!
Looks cool short like this.:)

Here's a picture taken just after forging the blade. It was forged from the same size piece of steel in the picture.

Ray it just blows me away how perfectly forged that blade is. The finished product is beyond fine, that's another one of your spectacular blades that would just come to life in the hand. I wonder what it'd be like to make knives like that? It must feel great! Thanks for sharing,

Dave, There's time when I pick up a hammer and I just can't get anything going. There's at least 3 hours of hand forging into this blade. I took it further with a hammer than I have ever done before. Normally I'll stop before I reach this point since I'll be grinding but since the plan was for a forge finish I wanted it thin and thats what I got. As much as you know I like to fish when I have a blade moving like this one there's nothing else I'd rather be doing.

Another incredible piece by Raymond "The King of Stag" Richard! (Somewhere in my twisted little mind I think that if I keep calling you that here, sooner or later Blade will have an article about you acknowledging you as such):D:D
Never would have guessed it was shortened if you hadn't let us all in on it!

Matt, Another few knives and I'll be the "Out a Stag King". I do like the title. :D
