I finally had time to finish a new bushcraft knife design I have been working on. I know bushcraft means many things to many people but to me it means a small cutting and skinning tool so with those chores in mind I have been doing some testing with the design and edge grinds. In the end I like the flat grind with approximately 25* flat secondary.

I sliced up some venison and veggies, scraped a dead piece of post oak for making tinder for a fire and then finished off a fuzz stick out of the oak. The edge was still sharp enough to cut some ropes. No chipping or rolled edges along the length of the edge so I was pretty happy. It is just slightly harder to sharpen than I like so on the next batch I will increase the temp 25*

1084 1/8" spine
4" blade 1 1/4 wide
4.5 handle
Black canvas micarta scales

Nice work.

I like the styles and lines

I have just begun working with aldos 1084 so growing with the steel will only get better. Thus far I really do.like it over the O1 I had been using for my blades.

Why do you like the 1084 better? I have used O1 and A2 almost exclusively and have never used 1084. Maybe I'm missing something?

That thing looks really comfortable to hold and use. I'm in love with how the scales, liners, and blade tang look all together. Very nice!

Great job Shane. Looking forward to the orange/black one! Did you make the firesteel?

Very nice work! Great lines, finishing, the handle looks very comfortable, I even like the mosaic pin... my favorite pattern for those! Black micarta, sweet!

Thanks again guys. Yes Jason I made the fire steel too or atleast the bacote wood topper from some leftover longbow risers. Same block I sent you ;)

Working on a 52100 version since I had some in the shop to see how close they compare to each other.
