Hey you can make someone happy with a kitchen knife. Built this for a friend - was he tickled! Making knives is fun - handing them over to a new owner is even more fun.

That is sharp looking! Pun intended, sorry!:D You're going to have a lot of new friends if you keep posting knives like that;) Are the bolsters attached with matching micarta pins?

Man if my wife saw that I would be stuck making a full set of those before I could even think of working on anything else ;)

Thanks guys. The black bolster was the customer's request. I was skeptical, but it works.

Baumr, nope on the micarta pins. I used hidden brass pins. I also used hidden pins on the scales. However, with the dovetailed bolster you can really only get them in on one side. The other side has oversides countersink deals to form epoxy pins. Between the dovetails, full pin, and hidden pins I expect it to hold together.

Wow Steve, that is the classiest kitchen knife I have ever seen!!!
I am going to make my Mom a kitchen knife and was going to just make it a good plain jane user but after seeing your work I'm going to fancy it up like this one. I really like the micarta bolsters in front of the burl wood handles. Besides the looks, it protects the end grain of the wood handles.
Outstanding!

Steve you got it, that's great! I'm glad to see you using the S30V too, you can't get a more perfect steel than that, especially for the kitchen. Thanks for sharing, that was worthwhile!

Besides being an extremely nice looking piece, it is well thought out for use - my compliments.
