Finished mosaic handle WIP pics w/sheath finally

your level of patience and skill with the bandsaw is leaps and bounds above mine.

you put the whole thing in a vacuum with the CA, so the whole block and the excess dries over time and you have to grind off a lot of excess, as in maybe inches of excess depending on the size of the container you put the block in to pour over the CA? (yes, that was a run on sentence...)

No, after three cycles of vacuum to atmosphere, the block comes out with tongs, it is then sprayed with excelerator so the small filled spaces don't drain out. The rest of the C.A. glue is saved for future stuff, the amount ground off of the outside of the block is probably ten thousandths of an inch.

Has a real regal look , kind of Egyptian like, very unique and creative, the sheath deserves a WIP also.

What a combo, Thanks for the WIP and sharing your work and talent.

Forgot to mention your photos:thumbup:

Thanks Mark, I am not sure I am the one to do a sheath WIP, There are more accomplished sheath makers than I, that could do better. I could though, maybe later some time. I got some catching up to do.

Someone asked me how to make a handle from multiple pieces the other day.
I remembered this thread. Took a while to find it but I thought it was worth bringing it back to life.

I can't imagine the patience something like this must take! You sure his real name is not Job? Simply stunning work!

I have seen turnings done by woodworkers where they laminate over a thousand pieces to make a complex lace design when it gets turned. These skills are amazing. Kudos to Mark.

I know this is an old thread but I keep looking for it to see how Mark did this mosaic handle.
I thought it would be good to dig it up for those who haven't seen it yet.

I have to say I have seen less detail in space shuttle parts. I am impressed.

Just incredible.
