just got mount the motor on a hinge(baldor 1.5 hp), and wire it up to my foot pedal
and also buy some belts, what grit belts does anyone recommend? i ordered a 6 pack of assorted coarse belts off amazon. but thats all i have. needed one to test/track the grinder and figured they wouldnt go to waste
 
Looks good. I searched my steel pile yesterday but my tubing was heavy walled and wouldn't fit in each other. Hopefully I can get away this morning to the iron yard and pick up what I need to build the same grinder.
What wheels did you get, OBM ?
Did you buy or make your platent?
 
My most used belts are 36 and 60 grit ceramic, 180 and 400 grit aluminum oxide J flex, a100,a65, and a45 gator trizacts, and cork belts. It's very much a personal preference thing though, and the best bet is probably to get an assortment of belts and see what works for you.

the wheels are from vwjackstraw on ebay.
i bought the platen from oregon blade maker on ebay
if you can find telescoping steel tubing, you wont have to grind off inside weld to fit tube inside another tube
