I thought for my son's first knife it might be fun to refurbish an old Cub Scout knife and give it to him for Christmas (he's 7 years old). It came out really nice, but took wayyyy longer than I anticipated. Mostly because I've never worked on a knife other than standard polishing / sharpening and it was a lot of 1 step forward - 2 steps back type of deal. I still need to sharpen it, but other than that it's done. Fun learning experience, but I don't think I'll be tackling this again for a while. Here's some before and after pics.
