Finished Sheath for Hatchet...

This is beautiful sheath.

And of course I'm also very much interested in those drawings.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, that's the essence. Something you might have seen a fur trapper or long hunter wearing on their belt to keep their flint and steel in. Basically like a possibles pouch.

I think I am seeing it come alive in my mind.

How far below the bottom of the belt do you think it should drop, to the top of the pouch?

Thank you for your kind words, gentlemen.

Brian, how could I be dumb enough to ignore a little free advice from a guy as talented as you?

So, I should make one with an exposed poll, I will have to begin to think that out.

Thank you again guys.

A small pouch will be really awsome - not too big really - just big enough to hold a sharpening stone, firesteel and fatwood and a Vic Farmer or some traditional Slipjoint :)

Well, the drop-loop would probably need to be around 2 1/2", wouldnt you think? That way you could still access the pouch if you were wearing a long winter coat, or a pack with a waist strap.

That's nice. You've got both talent and skill. How did you learn to do this?

Well, I have been studying knives and all the rest of this sort of stuff for about 15 years.

But, I needed someone to put me over the edge, and teach me some of the skills of a knifemaker.... And that was Bob Alderman.

His website http://trackersforge.blogspot.com/ And if you scroll down, there is a post about his knife-making classes.

So, some of it has been building for years, and some of it is quite new.

I think that would be about right. I am looking forward to building one of these.
