Well, it needed a sheath, so I made one of those too....

And I think it came out pretty good...

Let me know what you think.

I really like that alot. Can we get a view of the back of the sheath? What's the total weight of the the hatchet? By the way, is that a Bob Alderman knife beside hatchet?

The one reference I can find to it, says that the head weighs 600 grams or about 1.25 pounds.

Bob is teaching me to make knives, so it is in his style, but that one is mine, all mine.

Thanks for the other view of the sheath. As for the knife, I think you carried off Bob's "style" just fine. It appears you have been learning what Bob has been teaching you because that is one good looking knife.

You are welcome.

Thank you for your kind words.

I like that knife, it turned out well for a first knife.

Marion,
Both turned out very nice. Thats some nice thick leather for your hatchet. Does the string tie work well versus a snap? Just curious what you think.

Yeah, I went with thicker leather because I feel that willl offer more protection against puncture.

And the string closure is not as fast as a snap, but i felt it was keeping with the aged look, as well as a simpler approach.

Thank you.
