Finished spike hawk

Heres a spike hawk i finished today.After grinding to 400 grit i warmed the head and applied cold blue to get an aged effect.The handle is stained hickory.

Ball pein hammer,quenched in parks after triple quench for grain reduction.Tempered twice.
 
This is a hawk that I really enjoy the looks of. Hawks have never really 'done it' for me, I'm more of a full fledged axe man myself. I would love to see some one here make an axe with a useful, sturdy looking pick on the back like this one.

It looks like a good hard worker, I love it :thumbup:
 
I like it!

IMO much better than the spikes that look like an arrowhead stuck on the poll of a 'hawk.
