Finished up another Lorien

I am having some more fun with this Lorien design, this one has a slight Kukri twist (or bend if you will). Made with Mike Turner SanMai. I left the forge marks on the Ricasso, there are still a few things I will do differently on the next one but overall I am happy with the results.

One new feature I tried is making the choil useful as a finger groove. That way when doing delicate work you can choke up close to the blade greatly increasing fine motor control. This one will have a sharpened Swedge, and features Lorien's new "LA" designs logo.

OAL: 11"
Blade: 6.5"
Steel: 3/16" M.T. SanMai (1095 & Wrought Iron)
Scales: Redwood Burl / Linen Micarta Bolsters / G10 Black Liner

Nice work buddy:thumbup: We need some of those on the table next year!!;)

I really like how that turned out, great design. The handle turned out beautiful!

in the photos it looks like there is a big hole in the redwood by the micarta pin, that is just a dark spot in the wood. guess I had better see if it will sand out a little better and lighten up.

How about Yippee Doodle!!! Seriously, that is one of the best looking knives I've seen, ever.
How many car payments would I have to skip to get one just like it? :)

Love the swedge mate. I need to practice them. I have three knives that I need to put them on soon!
 
Ryan that is a beauty my friend and I think my favorite of yours so far keep up the great work.
 
Thanks Matt and Grim - Matt, I do the swedges first it gives me a better platform to keep them even, then I take the primary grind up to where I need it. Good Luck!

Ryan,

The redwood burl looks great with the micarta bolsters and san mai blade. Great photos (as usual) too!
 
feels kind of strange having a knife made after me...but, self edification fully in swing, I gotta say I don't mind!
