Well I got my first knives back from peters and I have to say they did an excellent job. I really liked the way they looked when I got them back. Especially the s110v as it was a cool straw color. So I ended up sharpening one and putting a handle on it. Is this considered lazy? Also what do you guys think about the almost finished product?.186"S110v at 63-64 with carbon fiber scales.

If that was what you were going to do I would have sanded it to a higher grit. Also, that coloration is not very durable. I wouldn't do it myself.

Haha, I've definitely been considered lazy for doing that. :)
But sometimes it really works with the piece. I prefer to be 'lazy' for occasional hidden tang blades and my kiridashi, but always finish my full-tangs. The oxide layer will be softer than the underlying steel, but that's not necessarily terrible. But with full tangs, the perimeter of the handle will likely end up shiny and the flats and bevels dark, which looks a little strange.

Yea I didn't really think about the whole durability thing. Live and learn I guess. The oxide layer on the the 10v was a lot thinner. Almost non existent. Anyone know why that is?
