I'm looking for some tips, methods, and products for sealing the natural cracks and porosity found in natural stag, as well as getting a high quality polished finish that is durable but also weather proof. I have taken one of my first orders for an 0-1 guthook skinner. The customer has provided me with a section of Elk shed that has sentemental value to him and I don't want to mess this up. The piece is solid and strong, but has a lot of natural weather stain on it(especially in the crevices) that I want to seal in with some kind of durable coating, and then polish the coating, still keeping the finish thin, so it dosn't look like it has been sealed in resin/epoxy. Any hints would be great. Thanks, guys.

I like thin super glue. Apply 3-4 drops at a time and Use the finger from a powder free vinyl glove to spread the glue around. About 3-4 coats will leave a sealed shiny finish. You can dull the shine a little with scotch-brite white pads. Use a paste wax and hand rub to desired finish.
