Finishing Textured G10 Scales?

I have some olive drab G10 scales with the basket weave texture that I am going to put on a working drop point hunter. I like the grip of the texture, but the scales are somewhat bland looking. With all of the depressions getting any sort of shine with the belt grinder isn't going to work, and I don't own a buffing wheel yet. I have read about some folks using some type of lacquer on G10, and also about just using some WD40. I don't want a really shiny finish, but do want to enhance the appearance a bit. I am worried that a lacquer finish may wear off at contact points after being used. Is WD40 the safest way to go, or is there a different product that someone would recommend?

Thanks for any help or advice. After a really busy summer I'm looking forward to getting into the shop a bit and working on some knives this fall and winter.

I have found WD-40 to be the perfect way to bring out the best in most synthetic materials. I use it on all my G10. I would not add any kind of lacquer or wax because they do look like ass when they begin to wear.
