Finishing wire wrap on handle

How do you finish off the end of the wire on a wire wrap handle? I've been tying it (like the first part of the knot on a shoelace) twice and then trying to get the end pushed under the wrap. Of course I'm using 0.035 stainless in a twist, so this may be part of my problem. Thank you for reading.

Silver solder the ends to the first wrap around, then cover with a collar to hide the joint?

Where the wire comes to the end of the handle, slot the handle and run the wire through the slot to the end. Drill a hole for the end of the wire to go in, bend and insert wire, epoxy the end in the hole, done. It will be covered by the guard or butt cap.

Pull the end of the wire underneath the wrapping with a loop, like it is done on thick ropes.
