well i have Finley got my Stencil design done for my knives. i have always just put my name on them. but i have always wanted to use my tattoo on my arm as my stamp, but i could not seam to make it work how i wanted it to. well Farmer Phil contacted me a little bit ago about how much he liked my tattoo and had some questions about it. and it Finley pushed me over the edge to finish the stencil render of it. so i would like to thanks Farmer Phil for the friendly push. now i just need to find a good stencil printer. here is the design, i figured I'm inked with it so my knives should be as well. i wanted a kinda sketched look and not supper crisp lines. i think i hit the nail on the head.

Be careful, when Jarod finely gets how to spell finely and doesn't type finley anymore we won't know it's him posting!

I LOVE that design Jarod. Good thing you got moving on it before I tried to steal/steel it myself! I still might use it for inspiration in developing a logo for me. Wish me luck in getting one worked out that looks half as good as yours.

What's the dimensions of that? Are you going to have more than one size so you can put a smaller one on smaller knives?

Sometimes a large mark looks out of proportion on a smaller knife.

Maybe put your initials in the anvil?

ya I'm going to have some small ones and large ones made. any one know of a good stencil maker, i think its Finley ;) time for me to get some

Dont know from experience but a lot of people use Ernie (Blue Lightening Stencils)... Here's his website: http://www.erniesknives.com/Etching%20Stencils.htm

Again, never used him but heard him referred a ton...

I just received mine last week from T.U.S Technologies. Price was $35 for setup and stencil, same as Ernie. But, when I need another stencil it is only $11 shipped instead of another $35. They were super to deal with. They spent two days and sent me dozens of setups until I was happy. Couldn't have been given better service.

Well i sent an email to Ernie and we will see what he says. here is what it looks like with my initials in the anvil, but I'm worried that when its that small you wont be able to read it. but i really don't know as i have never used a real stencil be for. How big should i have it made to. i was thinking the size of a Penney or dime but what do you think.

I think if you etch it deep, you'll loose a little bit of detail depending on size, but see what Ernie thinks. He's pretty spot on about that kind of stuff.

OK i have talked to Ernie, well i sent him a picture and he sent one back with some corrections. then i realized what he was getting at. i had planned on etching everything black with just some UN etched lines. but the picture he sent back was just the out line which got me thinking that it would be to much black and just could wipe its self out. so i went back to photo shop and gave it a make over. i absolutely love it now and think its even better and i think it will look sweet on my blades.

Looks good, and represents you well ....er...sort of :(?
You have made a hammer:thumbup:,
made tongs:thumbup:,
even made an anvil:thumbup:
..........but now you have to stop making and designing other stuff and make some knives.:D:D;)

Stacy

BTW JT, I really need those DVDs back. Any chance of getting them out to me soon?

I like it.

BTW, you can have more than one size on your stencil sheet, you just get less of each. Get more of the one you think you'll use the most and one or two of a couple other sizes to try out and see if you like them or they suit your needs.
