Finn M39's, without a C&R license

I'm glad you brought this back up. I'm probably gonna get one if I don't see anything I want at the gun show Friday.

HD, you'll like it a lot. M38's kick like a mule. M39 is pleasant, due to added weight. Best Mosin, IMHO.

Surf AIM and Wholesale for prices and conditions- don't settle for junk or pay too much at the gun show. The wood can be fantastic on these...

Bring a bore light and cleaning kit to the gun show- people don't tell you that.

Shipping's only $15... Be picky. Expect a so-so one for $150, excellent but maybe dinged VG shooter for $200, brand-freakin' new for $300-350. Bore is critical (duh- sorry). You can re-blue, not worth it to re-barrel.

Email me if questions- I just read the "Mosin-Nagant Collector's Guide" from Amazon- until I forget, I'm full of trivia.

That's part of the coolness of the M38/44 is the recoil and the feelinl like something is actually exploding on you. Keeps you alive:D

Um, I exaggerated a little. Probably no 7.52x54 is "pleasant"... depends on the ammo too. 147 gr. Polish is what I like.

Funny, I shot 20 through the M44, didn't make an impression. 20 through the M38 and I was, um, noticing it...and I weigh 200 lbs. It's funny- some claim K31's kick. They really don't!

The M44 has the weight of the bayonet on there.

With the M38 it does kick hard but cause it's lighter it's easier to hold steady for me as long as I'm not jumpy about the kicking, and I seem to be able to shoot it well.

That's what I'm shooting the Polish 147. I have shot some of the Czech silvertips and I think the recoil seems less with them even though the bullet weight is the same.

Aren't these old bolt actions cool! Plus an added benefit with all the Moisiny ones is the ammo is super cheap too. I've avoided the K31 for that reason although I'll probably end up getting one because of the beauty.
