Finnish Army Stainless Steel Canteens

I recently bought 4ea of these canteens. They are .85L or 28.7oz. They fit perfectly in my L.L. Bean Canvas Continental Rucksack. Thanks for looking.

Austrian ones are very similar to those save for they are alu, but the cup they come sitting in is stainless. They're about £6 here.

They are designed to be worn inside of a jacket secured by the clippy thingy so they do not freeze. They also have a belt loop.

Yeah I've bought a bunch of these from various place but they were less expensive, more like 6€. Those guys on ebay really squeeze thick profits.

Nicely made although a bit too small for my liking.

I've known of a bunch of companies that carry them, but they probably don't ship outside Europe, if even outside Finland.

I've seen this bottle before from some Finnish retailers. I wonder why it wasn't taken up as an issue item?

Anyway, the Norgies have a nice alternative. I tracked this one down for about 7 bucks (£4.50).

It's all plastic, new/unissued. The retailer told me they have 2000 of them to get shot of!

Lovely robust plastic, designed to stand up to the chilly Norwegian temperatures.

Gotta be the same, inside jacket kinda deal I reckon.

Added bonus of a nice sturdy kuksa/kasa

The insulated cover has a nice pocket inside for puritabs I guess. It also has an eyeletted drainage hole and loop on the base.

Good wide mouth for snow.

Pretty good alternative to the more spendy Finnish canteen, if your not wanting to boil in the bottle. And doesn't taste like surplus thank god!
