The hardest thing about lighting a fire today was finding a good spot. Everything is dry . Dont want to cause a wildland fire. Used some dry cattails today. They light like gasoline.

Lit on first spark. Then sat back and enjoyed a cheap cigar.

So far I have found fire making with a ferro rod very easy. I have yet to fail. Ive never tried it in the rain , but have done it when everything was soaked.

Cigars just taste better after a successful attempt at something.

Is that a magnesium bar you used ?

Dang. Stomper doesn't take PayPal or credit cards. I'd talked to him last night and today to see if I could get one of his knives but we couldn't figure out the payment (I don't do checks or MO's for online business).

Too bad because that guy makes a nice looking knife!

JK doesn't want to lose 3-4% on his work and I am sure setting up a credit card business account is a pain. But, the only reason to use credit cards/paypal is some control if the merchant does not deliver. That certainly is not JK. If you don't like your checking account number exposed, use online bank payment. The bank uses their own number and the merchant (knifemaker) knows the check is good because the bank wouldn't issue it if there was no money in your account to back it up.

I've got a left over cigar dipbait, so I'm going to smoke it tonight in honor of you! thanks myfriend for motivating everyone!
