Fire by Friction via Fire bow - It's not working

Alot of the wood from the big stores is not dried as much as it use to be,also I have had little luck with ceder around here, I use willow if you can find a stand and get some standing dead wood you might have better luck.

Gosh it has been a few years since I made fire with the bow drill. My usual drill and board were of western red cedar and one should keep in mind that wood is quite variable within the same species and even the same tree , so try coarse grained wood and fine grained wood , flat sawn and quarter sawn and note what happens.

Once you have the mechanics down of coordinating the hand socket , bow , drill and board down then you work on the materials. There really is a lot going on, so keep at it!
