Fire Dagger by Bruce Bump (pic's)

Graymaker, There isnt enough ash in the cannister to cause any problems. You could make damascus in an electric oven if it will go to 2300 degrees. Mine wont but may cost to much on electricity anyway. What would be neat is if there was something besides air to pump through my fan to feed the propane fire. The air is the killer of welding damascus. BTW Im impressed by your extra long even-heat oven you had made to do swords.

Joss, I cut and ground a set of matching dies the exact size and shape as the curvy blade I wanted. The dies fit my hydraulic press. I then brought the flat, tapered blade up to forging temp and put it in the press. If the curvy waves were ground in instead of pressed in the pattern of the damascus would have been ruined. Presses are so much fun!

Bruce I just heat treat in the ele oven
it would take to long to recover each
time to reheat. and yes $$$$
if my atmospherizing works I think I can adapt it to
a forge too. we use to do it years ago tempering shoe shanks.
in a propane oven.
:)

Bruce.. As always, you are top of the heap. Very nice. Each knife I see you make is better than the one before. Keep up the good work, man. Mark
