Here is the one I use and I know a lot of other people do also. I have taken mine on two treks at Philmont Scout Ranch, canoing at the Boundary Waters Canoe area and numerous other trips and it has never let me down.

I use the Scout firesteel from Light My Fire, but I sell a lot more of the Army ones. They put out 5000 degree sparks--and a bunch of them.

One would think a ferro rod would light a propane grill off. I tried for a while. No dice. Seemed odd to me.
