I have seen them made from wood and plexiglass...any reason these can not be made out of aluminum or titanium???

How do you guys like them?

Thanks
Craig

Hey Craig,

If You planning to make some in the future I'm interested.

Yea, I am thinking about making some. I am a machinist by trade and think this will be easy to make(use will be another story)
Ti I think would be cool, a bit costly though. I plan on making a prototype up in Alu. when I get some time at work.

CanDo, what were the diameters of the plunger rod and the tube if you don't mind me asking??? Your link is not coming up, put links have been giving my problems all night:mad:

I like the idea of these...kinda gadgety cool...hopefully they work as good as they do in the vids I have seen.

Got it..that one worked. I actually used to sell hydraulic fittings and recognize the ones in the vid.

Got some basics/ideas...now to put them to Alu.

Thanks

Craig

Not to sound like a salesman, but I've been making and selling aluminum fire pistons in the gear for sale forum for a while: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=489104.
I machine them all on a hand lathe from 6061 aluminum. It was a pain finding the best dimensions to get a reliable ignition, but once I had it down, I've been able to crank a few out a week.

I made mine out of Brass tube and an aluminum shaft, worked fine when using charcloth.
