I'm always interested in new things & came across a fire starter made by Solo Scientific, called the Aurora Fire Starter. It's a ferro rod with an aluminum handle that threads into an aluminum body, complete with a built in striker.Have any of you used one before? And if so,what do you think of it?Google it to have a look.

I know a site that sells is and has a video review....Hedgehog Leather Works. It looks like a good tool.

My first thought on this was "Why the aluminum capsule?" If it gets wet while you use it the capsule will lock in the moisture.... not to mention that condensation may form on the inside..... and what if you cross thread by accident... or it freezes shut?...... too many "what if's" for me, I'm afraid.

Weak analogy attempt....

It's kinda like sealing a whistle in a canister IMHO..... why?

I have one of those - Not bad - I used it a couple of times - but I never find use for it - as I have a LMF firesteel on my sheath. PM me if you want it for cheap.

It would be kind of cool if once you unscrewed the capsule portion, you could flip the firesteel around and screw it onto the capsule for a more substantial handle. Of course, you would need another striker at that point. :)

Thank you for your offer but after reading the review I think I'll stay with my LMF firesteel as well.
