Fire starters you didn't know you already have!

I don't recommend using, let alone burning and breathing in the hand warmer fumes. Highly toxic (iron content).

Fuzz scraped off your socks will take a spark really well, too. You can get quite a bit from socks that have been worn a few times.

I have a few things lying around that will work well as fire starters. I bought a ball of jute twine for a couple of bucks from a hardware store, plenty there to start a bunch of fires. I have made some PJCBs, WCBs & BWCBs (beeswax cotton balls). I got a faulty tire tube for free from a nearby bike shop - makes good ranger bands and burns pretty good.

My beeswax cotton balls are the most recent, I tested one - 11 minutes of GOOD burning before the flame died down!

When I go camping I ride a maxi-scooter:

This has only a 13.5 litre fuel tank, so just in case I misjudge my fuel needs I carry some spare gasoline:

It shouldn't be too hard to get a fire going with that available. It is a 1.5L container into which you put 1.35 Litres of gasoline (unleaded 91 octane). A splash of gasoline ought to help get the wood burning!

The cheapest bestist tinders are tampons. They come sealed and one tmpon will let you start 10 fires with ease

Agreed. Not to mention they are pretty good for first aid, especially puncture wounds. And you're lady will love you if she forgets hers but you are prepared.

Nice work documenting your experiments. I've got a ziploc bag that's busting with dryer lint, too. Looking forward to trying out a few things in a few weeks.

Triple antibacterial cream is mostly white petroleum jelly which works great with cottonballs and even a fluffed up gauze pad.

Not 10, but 11, the last fire is the one you will start if you get caught stealing the Tampon! Just a warning.

Cheap 'tater chips. Good for fat in the diet in the winter and that oil burns really well.
