Fire starting Khukuri!??

I want a khukuri that shoots fire really bad! Also, one that shoots lightning, and one that can absorb souls...

They're kinda rare and the waiting list is long. The FLS Khukri is only available after the clock strikes thirteen on a Friday the thirteenth but, only during the cycle of a red full moon.

I think you have to be like, level 50 or something, before Auntie will even consider bestowing such a legendary khukuri upon you.

But.....I am a level 38 thief with a 9 power cloak of invisibility....

You guys are onto something for sure.

There's a fire-shooting lama-zombie-killing sword, if that's close enough for consideration? I wonder if they could do an Agni Jowla Khukuri?

Not if Lamas are included, I'm out. Don't you know they're endangered?!!

Some Chakmaks are hard enough to make sparks from flint and some are just not hardened enough. Im not sure exactly what hardness is required of 5160 to do the job but from my experience it can easily be done.

I didnt carry on with the fire because if you get a spark I assume you can get a fire.

I doubt seriously there is anywhere on the Khuk that will spark on flint other than the sweet spot but who wants to do that if you have a chakma that works. The karda I havent tested? But I doubt it is any harder than the Chakma.
I found that about 1 out of 10 Chakmas in my collection are actually hard enough to use as fire starter. I will say that they are perfectly suitable to do what they were designed to do and that is burnish your blade edge.
Now what I would do is if I had my favorite Khuk that went camping with me all the time is:
Remove the handle of the Chakmac
Fire it up and quench it.
Mount the handle again.
Use it as it was intended by HI for burnishing
use it as a firestarter with a good piece of flint.
Eat, Drink, and be Happy:thumbup:

Great video Ndoghouse thanks for sharing! And great idea on removing handle to bring up to critical and quench.

Easy khukoo, Ndog a bit sensitive to the fire issue. He' leveled up a few years back. I can't believe he's making sparks either, perhaps he's a slow learner but a swell fella none the less.

I wonder is flint flint or can a person, especially a person like me that's no rock hound find a bad piece that just won't make spark. I have a hard enough time starting the wood stove with wooden matches and a newspaper, a flint would be a challenge.

I did mess around with fire pistons some years back and actually made one that worked. That was a challenge too but it worked. Still around here someplace.

Hey I didnt burn my house down. The electric company did;) I would never do that (as he walks around the house with a propane torch killin flies):D
Fire pistons are great. Ive made several of them. One of my favorites was one made from a piece of acrylic. You could see the spark when you compressed it. Really cool! All my fire pistons got leveled with the house:mad: Someday ill make another. I want to try one out of bamboo. The hard part is getting a good seal with natural materials. I think ill try bees wax next time?
Mr.B your right about the rock. Some dont work for squat and some work great. A file is a great way to test them. Use the side of the file for best results. A sharpening steel works ok too but the grooves run the wrong way so I prefer the file. I have an altoids can full of char cloth and a piece of broken file for buggin out.

I hadn't considered using acrylic for a fire piston, that would be an awesome idea. I have some tubing that just might work.

The seal was indeed tough to get right, I tried different thread and cotton waxed etc trying to get it right with limited success.

A guy can buy them but I guess that would take all the fun out of it.

Sorry ndog. Hope I didn't offend. I genuinely thought it was cool you were doing that in the house, because I might not get away with it. Gotta be more careful joking around with strangers on the Internet.

I was looking to get a sheath made for my KLVUK with a holder for a magnesium fire starter. Now I am going to try to learn how to make a fire piston. This forum has increased my number of ongoing projects substantially.

You won't find anybody stranger than Ndog to joke around with on the internet, cept maybe Bookie or myself.

I was poking fun myself, I don't do serious to gud. I'm sure no offense was taken and none intended.
