Fire starting Khukuri!??

How bout this for an idear Shavru? Now that you know me better and can at least trust me a tiny little bit, perhaps you'll reconsider and accept my hand in happily ever after cyber marriage.
I've even corresponded with your real life hubby and I think he'd be ok with it.
This rejection has bothered me for a pretty long spell.

I hadn't considered using acrylic for a fire piston, that would be an awesome idea. I have some tubing that just might work.

The seal was indeed tough to get right, I tried different thread and cotton waxed etc trying to get it right with limited success.

A guy can buy them but I guess that would take all the fun out of it.

I have some acrylic rod that does not work no mater what you do to drill it. Least no matter what I do. It will develop cracks from the drilling and eventually fall apart. If you do it use the 1/2" sheet acrylic. It has different formulation and is stronger. If you want it round you have to turn it round then polish it out. I just made mine square. My hi tech ones use two little o-rings butt up next to each other and chapstick for lubricant. I dont drill my holes for the char cloth like most. I drill them sideways and sand the end off the piston till there is a bit of the hole exposed. Roll some tinder up and stuff it in the holefrom the side. That way you can push it out once its ignited and you dont have to dig the ember out.

Sorry ndog. Hope I didn't offend. I genuinely thought it was cool you were doing that in the house, because I might not get away with it. Gotta be more careful joking around with strangers on the Internet....
No problem Khukoo! You did not offend me at all. Never even crossed my mind.:cool::thumbup:

Gosh durn it, cyber brides must be near as expensive as real ones. Offer still stands though, she's worth it. Have to send her a bottle of that Loreal, the shampoo for cyber brides that are worth it.
