so do cigarette lighters, but for me its more about keeping old ways alive, not lighting a fat one.............

Blue-tip strike anywhere matches are great. I can build a one-match fire every time.

I used to be proficient at flint-and-steel. Doesn't take much longer than a match, but requires extra prep. I'm out of practice now.

I've also built fires with battery and steel wool, and bow and drill.

Yup, Blue Tips were sure great. Too bad.

i carry a gerber strikeforce ive had for 10 yrs plus stuffed with cotton balls sprayed with wd-40

all you need is some tinder fungus it mostly grows on birch trees it works great for me. here is a link too help you identify it
