was just wondering what are some good sets out there to carry with my knife in the wilds.

I carry something like this with me almost all the time.

I also have a ferro rod on my main knife sheath. In addition I carry a separate fire kit.

I have added a lighter since this pic was taken.

Of course there is also flint and steel but for getting down to business and starting a fire I prefer the ferro rod.

Not sure if I fully understand what you're looking for, but a plain firesteel is what many folks decide to keep with their basics. The 'Light My Fire' stuff is popular, I like the army model.

Keeping some jute twine and fatwood along with it can help guarantee that you'll have easy-to-light tinder around. Plus it's cheap.

Past that, you can try the magnesium/ferrorcium bars.

I carry my SAK hiker alot and hooked to the split ring is a Mini LMF rod.small SAK with small ferro rod, light weight & easy on the pocket

Are you talking tinder kits with a firesteal?

If so I keep a small ferro rod, mini bic, PJCB's, and wetfire tinder in my psk; but I don't use that unless neccessary. I always have a large ferro rod with me and make use of what I can find to start a fire and keep it going.
