Firearm Instructors Companion Knife

Hi Derek -

No reciprocity (hey, it's Illinois.... ), but you are ok to conceal and carry while in your car travelling through if you are legally able to carry in your state of residence.

I will eventually have a web site. At the moment there is a huge disparity between the number of instructors and the number of people who want to get the required training in order to qualify for their Illinois CCL, so advertising is not necessary for me at this point, although I see a lot of places that are advertising.

My priority at the moment is finding a piece of land to put up a building that will have a classroom and indoor pistol range.

I am only teaching pistol and Illinois CCT as of right now, as that is where the major demand is, but the plan is to offer "continuing education" so that people can get more training for conceal and carry, as well as other disciplines (rifle, shotgun etc).

My wife, Maggie, is taking her instructor training in the next couple of weeks, so she will be able to teach as well. This should be a good enterprise to take us into retirement, and allow us to keep having fun shooting while providing sound safety training for the people in our area.

Thanks again buddy!

If you ever need help at your planned facility, I know a guy looking for a job, sweeping up brass or whatever. Heck, I`d even get a car for something like that!

sounds like a great idea, Andy, really,

If i can ever help, let me know, though granted I realize they may sound like hollow words coming from a guy in Kentucky with no license or ability to help in such a venture, but they are sincere!

this is GOOD news -- I may consider driving through Illinois on my way south again in the future.
may even be able to consider stopping on the way through so I can steal - er, I mean sample -- some of Cooper's beer one of these days. :D

Hey Eric - if you stop through, contact me!! Cooper is close enough I would drive out there for a visit -

(Thanks for the offer Pete! )

I've got plenty to go around. Stop by any time!

That would be awesome! The cool part is, we can shoot pretty much any where we want to out here.:D

Congratulations on the new business, Andy. Once I get a gun more suited for carry, I will probably be in touch.

Will you do groups at a time or will be it be on a more individual basis?

I'm not used to having things on my belt. I guess I could probably change my ways, just thought about getting a baby Glock for pocket carry.

I had a G26, the grip was too short for me. The G19 is perfect, that`s why I chopped the grip on my G17 to G19 specs.

I am doing groups, so far I am limiting classes to 10 people so that I can maintain proper safety at the range when I am the only instructor/RSO attending.

good call Andy - when I went through my training, I ended up helping the range officer with a few folks who acted like they'd never seen or handled a firearm before.
does Illinois require you to qualify with your carry piece specifically, or are you allowed to qualify with any handgun and carry whatever you want?
