Firefighter looking between a 25 and umnum

You might want to widen your search. IMHO, opening either one of them under extreme stress in gloves might not be that easy. You should really try it with your working gloves before you commit. Just my .02.

Cheers

Hi,

You find a StarTac yet ?
If not, I have 2 and will be selling at least one of them to fund another purchase. They both have the old pivot.
Let me know if your interested, otherwise, good luck in your search they're great knives.

I agree with the above, the only drawback to CRK knives is that you have to consciously open them. As in concentrate a bit on the task of opening the knife. In a stressful environment you most likely will NOT be concentrating on opening the knife but on other things at hand. You will be pinching the lockbar closed(increasing the detent to almost un-openable) unknowingly while trying to pry open the thumbstud. It's not going to open for you one handed.

That being said I would go with a 25, the choil/finger-grooves provide in my opinion a better grip if it fits your hand.
