Firefly series on DVD

Hadn't seen the Naked Mal one yet :)
I liked the one where they gave the money back for a job
and one of the bad guys gave him attitude saying 'I don't care where
you go, I'll hunt you down'
And Mal kicks him in the gut and he falls back and gets sucked into the engine.
Mal asks the next guy if he has any problem taking the money back? no problem at all ! :)

One of my favorite shows. I remember watching the previews for one episode on Fox, when it originally aired, waiting for it to come back on, and then missing it. Years later, a movie called Serenity comes out in the theaters, and I am all over the Firefly series. Rumor has been circulating for years that the series will be resurrected, we'll get another movie, etc. I hope it comes to pass, I love the show and movie.

Shiny! Let's see... I own two Serenity models/xmas ornaments, authorized copies of the paper money, even some "joss paper" on the wall in the computer room. Got the Blue Sun shirt, and the Blue Sun logo in the cube at work. Browncoat ID/badge lanyard. Two copies of the series on DVD (one for loans). Three different posters. Got the comic books, the trade paperbacks, Serenity Valley maps, the movie DVD, and the Done The Impossible fan DVD. Have a bunch of Firefly "filk" on the mp3 player. TFAW emails me weekly. Gonna get the Fruity-Oatey Bars lunchbox next. Even considered the gold Serenity model on ebay right now.

Yeah, ya could call me a fan... :p

I'll be in my bunk...

Yah, I'd say you were a fan no doubt!
Good to see more guys comment on this and
maybe it will spark others to pick up the series
and the movie, at family video they have the
series there to rent, a good way to check it first.

For anyone on the fence, if you like science-fiction, if you thought it was cool when Lucas showed beat-up, used transportation in Star Wars (as opposed the perfectly white, antiseptic environment of Star Trek), and if you don't mind the idea of space hookers ( ), you might give this canceled series a try. It's the only canceled series I know of that went on to become a major motion picture (based on DVD sales).:thumbup:

And, it won a couple of awards:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461/awards ;)

As did the movie, Serenity:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/awards (Oooooooo! Hugo!) :thumbup::thumbup:

See y'all out in the black...

:D

Nice, didn't know they won those awards, rightly deserved I'd say!

absolutely! got turned on to FireFly before the movie came out. bought the DVD set and watch it repeatedly. I'd follow Jewel into the Black anyday!

scuttlebut is that all parties THINK a sequel will happen, but no one will say it for the record right now.

This was a great show and movie that my whole family loves. We have it all on dvd and watch it at least once every six months. IIRC the FOX execs who green lighted the series quite or retire before the series aired. The new execs did not like the series, and campaigned to make the series fail. Its replacement was a show called Fastlane.

Yep, all the above praise!!! My wife and I love Sci-Fi anyway, but this series is one that should have been continued. FireFly and Serenity are top notch. The western flare in a space adventure, smuggling, comedy, and some hotty wenches, made for one hell of a series.

While Nathan Fillion was in Fastlane, didn't that come out years after Firefly was cancelled?

Fastlane debuted in 2002. I don't believe it had Fillion in it. Are you thinking of Drive?

:foot: Lemme check IMDB,

"Drive" .... Alex Tully (6 episodes, 2007)
- Rearview (2007) TV episode .... Alex Tully
- The Extra Mile (2007) TV episode .... Alex Tully
- No Turning Back (2007) TV episode .... Alex Tully
- Let the Games Begin (2007) TV episode .... Alex Tully
- Partners (2007) TV episode .... Alex Tully
(1 more)

I was wrong, never even watched an episode of that show, thought it was Fastlane. Research is an option :foot::o...

Fastlane ran during the same time that Firefly was on the air (if you can consider Firefly to be "on the air" with any appreciable regularity  ), from 2002-2003, so it may well have taken over Firefly's (infinitely-variable) slot after it was canceled.

My wife and I were flipping through channels, and stopped on something that looked interesting. We were hooked. Unfortunately we missed several of the episodes as they aired on Sci-Fi, and were quite upset. Then we saw that the would be a movie, and were ecstatic.

Recently I found the series on DVD, and was willing to pay a pretty penny. We watched the series, (as orignially intended to air) and then the movie.

It's rare that my wife and I find something that we are both so into, so this was a great treat, and brought us closer together.

Daniel, that's pretty cool how that worked out!
I'll probably get a chance to see the rest of the
series this week, heading to Clearwater FL to our
office there, sitting in Philly airport right now.
