The Mozilla Firefox 3 browser became available today, so of course I've downloaded it and have been putting it through its paces.
A really dramatic improvement over Firefox 2 which had been my default browser and IMO was the best available.

It's free, of course.

Thanks,
It is downloading as we speak. So what add ons do you recommend?

What tweaks?

This is the first time I use it

Of course it's the first time I'm using it too; it was just released today. :)

It'll take some time for me to go through the add ons and tweaks, there are apparently a huge slew of them and many more to come.

It seems slower than windows explorer

Wow, I don't know why that would be.

All reports I've read indicate it's faster than Explorer, and I'm finding that it's faster than explorer.

Well, thanks for the tip. I really like it already. I imported all my explorer bookmarks and am going to town :D

Im downloading it, lets see if i can get away from safari and back to firefox. :D:D
ok its done but why is scrolling SOOOOOO slow??

Been using it now for several hours and it just keeps getting better and better.

Plus there are so many great add-ons, it's really unbelievable.

Some might say "addictive". :D

I am loving FF3 :D

Right now only using two addons, NoScript (great featherweight protection imo) and FullScreen.

I can see the quick bookmarking and the address bar memory coming in handy on Bladeforums. So if I see a cool thread like a that step-by-step Phillip Patton knife thread I can easily find it or bookmark it.

Anyone know how to turn off the annoying 'quick bookmarking' thing? Where it pops up in a dropdown when entering the web address?

Do the same add-on applications for 2.0 work with 3.0?

Not all of them.
But so far, Firefox 3 has automatically detected and disabled my old add-ons which were not compatible with it. And notified me as it was about to do so.

The only feature annoying me is the quick bookmarking

Say I wanna go to BFC
so I type "bladeforums" and it gives me all my bookmarks, all the threads I clicked, etc. Takes me forever to scroll down to General Discussion

You could put all of the bladeforums into a bookmark folder, then find them from there.

I've been using beta versions for 6 months... very, very fast... and extremely stable on all of my systems. Love it!
