firefox | IE

I've tried them all and was dedicated to firefox for a good while but ended up returning to IE. Too many things I used on a daily basis did not work right with firefox.

Are you using the most recently updated version?
I find that now Firefox is more compatible with just about everything than ever.

It's faster than IE beta 7, and the toolbar takes up less screen space.

I use Firefox and Opera 9.

I use IE rarely; and only for MS-specific applications like downloading MS updates.

I havn't used Firefox in 6+ months so maybe the new one is better. IIRC I had issues with some of my online bank websites as well.

Still ahven't made the jump.

Too afraid of losing stuff.

What are you in danger of losing if you were to experiment with another browser? Can't you have multiple browsers loaded and simply use whichever works best for a particular application?

I'm asking only because I'm a Mac guy and I've been running into a few bugs recently with Safari (to include this very site, in fact). I see that Opera has a Mac compatible browser and was considering giving it a try. Is there any potential danger in having more than one browser loaded on your machine?

No issues in having more than one browser loaded onto your machine

except (you knew that was coming) -

you've got to have enough space on your hard drive for the browsers,
you've got to make sure the browser is compatible with your machine,
you've got to download the browser from a trusted site.

Other than that, I highly recommend it! I've had different versions of browsers loaded onto my machines, Macs and PCs, for years. It's defiintely the way to go, IMO.

Helpful indeed. In fact, this post is brought to you courtesy of Opera.

(That wasn't hard at all. :) )

I use firefox once in a while, but still use lynx for the most part.
haha, I just telnet to port 80 and send my own GET requests. :p

Really, though, lynx/elinks saved my life so many times when I would mess up the X configuration (or even my entire computer) and end up booting from a rescue disk.

I use Firefox, generally, although Opera is quite nice. IE is a mess, though. It has horrible standards support. CSS and whatnot aside, are they ever going to properly support all the features of .png? One of my favorite forums still disallows them for logos because of IE. Not to mention its terrible security holes. ActiveX is a catastrophe unto itself, but even if you have activex and javascript disabled, IE finds no shortage of ways for other people to root your system. Those infamous image exploits comes to mind, but also the myspace virus--thanks for "fixing" bad code, I.E.!

But for those of you who want /don't like something in firefox, you might give this place a try.
