Firemaking in the Wet-WARNING: FERRO RODS INVOLVED!

for you that use matches... saturate a piece of corrougated cardboard in candle wax or paraffin ... being sure to keep the channels clear when finished so you can insert a strike anywhere match...cut the length so the tip of the match extends through still holding rear of match, and cut two channels or so width...once lit you get a couple of minutes burn time...emergency situation use two matches

I've practiced in pretty much all conditions now with ferro rods. Made mistakes and learned from them. Got new insights from members...... Were I still feel weak is the mag bar. The material is hard to remove and I have difficulty reliably igniting the shavings. I love mag bars but I have medoicre to poor performance with them.
