OK, so I have this idea rattling around in my heed and I need some input.

Who likes to have a firesteel on their sheaths and if you do, which model do you prefer?

"Light my fire" seems to be the accepted leader in the market and they offer three sizes: their "Army" model is the largest. The scout is the 'tweener and then the "mini".

I prefer the "Army" model just because it's a bit more substantial and in my opinion throws more sparks.

So who likes and dislikes what and why?

i have a few different firestels in many different sizes... i like them all..:D

as far as one mounted on a sheath... i prefer the LMF army model.. it has a mush more solid feel to it and has a lot more striking surface, compared to a lot of the other ones...

i have an LMF scout model i think...a good size, its the only one i have right now. bigger would be better for me, but this on is fine.

don't have any knife sheaths with accommodations for a firesteel, but even if i did i don't know if i would take advantage of it. i like to keep my firesteel on a lanyard with a good striker and a pill case full of PJCB in my pocket or easily accessed on my bag when i'm in the woods.

most of my fixed blades carry a "army model LMF" but I do carry a "scout" model during the work week...with my SAK"hiker" model

I like LMF the best, both army and scout size. I'm not a big fan of carrying it on my sheath. I have an army one in my PSK, I have a scout on my keychain and I have another army model in a 'fire-pack' that I often carry in my bag. The firepack has a ferro-rod, bic lighter, a few good sizes of fatwood and PJC in a sandwhich sized ziplock bag.

i use the lmf army firesteel and i keep it in my knife sheath, but if i were carrying one in my pocket or putting one in a psk, i would perfer the scout, because of its size.

I have tied several brands aand the LMF has worked the best for me by far. There may be better ones but I am happy with these.

I carry the LMF Army model on my WTK sheath and a mini on the PSK sheath. The firesteels Marty Simon sells are very good also.

I prefer LMF because I have owned 3 of them and never a problem + they are conveniently available at REI and many other places.

I've used a couple of different styles and like em all..THe LMF army model is big...But sometimes it's nice to have someting smaller...I use the bsa hotspark alot..I think it's pretty cool, and it's cheap..My current set up has a LMF scout, and my firekit in my bag has a army model...I'm thinking about getting some scout model blanks from bens back woods....

I bought a LMF at REI then for the same price, bought about 10 blanks and made my own. They spark just as well and cost me about 2 bucks each.

Most of my blades have a firesteel. I also prefer a blank only with a lanyard. Same thickness as the Army model.

I have about fifteen different ones lying around.
LMF army, scout, mine
Fireflash (.nu) also army, scout and miny.
Jukkastickan firesteel (currently my favourite).
They all work well although I totally dislike the LMF scraper thing. It is crap compared to others.

I have LMF models on all of my Barkies, sheath mounted, a few ebay ferro rod blanks in kits & bob's, but I have to agree with rescueRiley, the BSA Hot spark works extremely well for the size and price. I have one attached to my Gossman PSK, and that combo gets most of my fires going.

Thanks for the input guys. I think you might like what I'm working on. Pics will follow when I get it all settled.
