This one just fought me all the way. I guess that must make it a "fighting knife..." :rolleyes: :D

I was stupid enough to keep working on it while I was still sick - its taken 4 weeks to complete (instead of 3 days) ! But its turned out sweeter than I'd hoped. This type of knife is now one of my signature pieces and I didn;t even have one to show at the upcoming Australian Knifemaker's Guild Show this weekend in Melbourne... well, now I do, and just in time.

That one is gorgeous!!!! I love the ashi -- wish I were enroute to Melbourne right now. :D
 
Wow, what a stunning piecce of wood for the handle. Real nice lines on this little knife.

This one's real nice! That poplar burl is stunning. The blade to handle ratio on this knife gives it a very balanced look and of course, I love the hamon.
 
Joss, the Starburst is the best name I could come up for it. Hard to see in the pics, but on the back of the guard is some texturing - its multidirectional, so it shimmers differently with the different light angles. I like doing that either on the front or the back of the guards - just something different from the regular satin or polished guards. Takes a bit more time than a straight satin finish, but not difficult - with a Dremel tool. Jason.
 
This is a great knife design. This poplar burl is very different from anything I've seen before. It's a beautiful piece of wood!

I handled this one at the show guys - SIMPLY STUNNING!

Just like everything else on the table... :eek:
