First 2021 Knife

the first thing I ever hammered out I used a charcoal forge, hair dryer, 3 pound sledge, channel lock pliers, and a 12 pound hammer head as an anvil.
I've demo'd forging things around a campfire using a piece of oak firewood as my anvil, channel locks, and a ball peen hammer to make a spoon out of rebar.

there are lots of free plans out there for making a coal (or charcoal) forge out of things like brake drums.
propane forges are pretty easy to make -- or can be found on ePrey under $200.
files, a HF 1x30, or even a side grinder with a flap disk is enough to shape a blade.

what's your budget look like to start out?

If all goes right should be somewhere around 600 to 800

Also got a couple of Fiskar axes to come with me to the cabin. Picked up the x27 and x7 so nice compared to the heavier axes I already have. Should be great for splitting wood.

Put the red scales on the 9, got the color pack from the 2019 Black Friday sale.

What do you think about it?
GeofS think it’s very well done :) Very smooth opening and closing  Love the blade  came with nice sharp edge  0 play anywhere  so far I’m liking it :) ! The only thing I can try to fault, is it’s a tad heavier than I expected , but I think I’m going to be keeping this one with me a lot.

Feels good and I’m so glad the handle isn’t any smaller :)
