First .22 Semi-Auto Recommendation

The Ruger SR22 pistol if you want something close to your SR9, or the 4.5" heavy barrel Mark III (I have the Mark II version which I believe is 5".) if you want something to be able to shoot well. I have both and both are great guns. Or if you prefer the 1911 grip, go with the heavy barrel version of the 45/22 which I still would like to pick up but other priorites have gotten in the way.

I'm partial to the Buckmark UDX with wood grips. Have shot thousands of rounds and the only hiccups ever have been a handful of dud rounds that didn't go off. It's even better now with a 4" Tactical Solutions barrel and a Sparrow. Nice trigger out of the box too.

Another for 22/45 lite.

Volquartsen trigger
Quick disconnect bushing
Majestic arms stocks

Gnats asses don't stand any chances :D

Why have you not shot the 9mm? In my area at the moment 9mm is easier to find than .22lr.

When they say you can't go wrong with a Ruger, they ain't lying!!

I've had this little fella for over 40 years. All three of my children, and two grandchildren learned to shoot on it and I can't count how many thousands of rounds have been down the tube. It''s been on camping trips, canoe trips, traveled the whole U.S. on car trips. Never had a problem out of it. I've never had a another handgun absorb the amount of ammo that how one has, without a part replacement/repair now and then. Gotta go Ruger!

Very nice, my dad has one just like it that I grew up shooting out on my grandpas farm. It was because of that gun that I got the Ruger 22/45.

Ruger Mark ll,I like them better than the Mark lll. It is hard to do any better than the Ruger Mark series.

If your looking for a trainer to closely mimic your SR9 Id recommend the SR22. If you want a fun, very accurate pistol go for the MKIII. Here's a few of mine.

this was going to be my suggestion as well, great little .22, won't break the bank, and so far has chewed through all brands of ammo I've fed it without complaint

I say a Ruger mkiii. Had one with a 6" barrel and absolutely loved it. Only sold it because times got hard.

I'm very happy to in this thread , the lack of fiber optic sights !!! I would throw them out immediately, I have , as the sun/shade difference is considerable ! They glow so much you instinctively pull down the barrel to see the target . For a 6.5" S&W it was 2 clicks at 50 yds. We proved that in metallic silhouette matches !
Patridge sights are still the best for handgun.

If you can find one at a Pawn Shop or Gun Trader, I'd suggest the Model 422 S&W target model with 6" barrel. Cycles flawlessly with almost any ammo, light as a feather due to the aluminum frame, and it as or more accurate than most target pistols costing 3 times as much. Besides that it fun as heck to shoot:D

You won't be dissapointed.

I second this option. I just found out and recently added to my 422 a thread adapter. With the purchase of this adapter and tool, a thread adapter can easily be added and makes it makes a great suppressor host. With the barrel positioning being on the bottom of the design there is no issue with sight heights etc.

Adapter:(I got the sparrow version)
