Yesterday we received 8 Gelbu specials and some other khukuris. I shipped seven of the Gelbu Specials to the first 7 people on the wait list -- more are coming so those who are still waiting take heart. It will not be long.
If you recall the kamis suggested to Gelbu that they make 6 or 8 more of these knives since they were sure we would have buyers for them here. When I received the knives I had to chuckle because it they displayed the way the kamis think when they do not have specific instructions (which they do not always follow anyway).
The knives had assorted chos -- standard, the pariwa ki aka, and a modified version of the eye of the dove. I could hear them saying,
"What if they don't want a pariwa ki aka? We better make a variety."
Also, they sent a smaller version -- "What if somebody wants a small one?"
They were all Gelbu Specials, for sure, but with slight variations.
Bob got the mini version.
