I'm building a 72-hour kit to keep in my truck. I have most of the stuff together, but I only have a messily "pocket first aid" kit in there. Are there any good kits out there that I wouldn't have to add much to? What should I add to any kit?
I'm a bigger fan of buying all the components to make a kit, and then you've also got 'extras' at home for other kits or home use. So I don't keep up with the commercial kits to know which include some proper ingredients. Here's a breakdown of what to carry though, so you can evaluate it yourself: http://woodsmonkey.com/index.php?op...st-aid-kit&catid=41:how-to-articles&Itemid=63
Good point (no pun intended).
My wife is a dental hygenist, she is the first item in my 72-hour kit. She can cook, pull out my teeth, and handle other "emergency" needs.
On another note, and as reminder to all of us with bad eyes: "GLASSES"! I have kept all of my glasses for the past 10 years. I have one packed in each of my emergency kits. I would not even be able to see what was in my kit if I was stranded and lost/destroyed my contacts.
