Here is my items I will be starting the first aid kit passaround with. EMS shears, cause they are super durable and I believe a good pair of shears is a must in a kit, and a unit dose of activated charcoal for treatment of accute poisonings. The charcoal would be very usefull for treatment of upset stomach and diarrea if you acidentaly injested a misidentified plant or non sterile water source. It binds w/ the poison, and blocks it from being absorbed into bloodstream, minimizing its effects. It should only be used in conscious people who can swallow w/o risk of aspiration. Its even cherry flavored to boot:eek: Let me know what you think.......

Oh, and if the person is vomiting, you wanna wait for the vomiting to subside before administrating. Its on the way to spooky for his addition.

Yep each person adds 1 or 2 items (NOT COUNTING MULTIPLES OF SAME ITEM, SUCH AS 4X4S, IODINE PREPS ECT).

I would add a 1 oz. tube of Triple antibiotic ointment with pain reliever. Besides the obvious use, it helps with skin dryness, some fungus infections, and makes for a good fire starting helper. This is basically petroleum jelly to which the antibiotics and topical analgesic are added, so it can be used in the field to impregnate cotton balls or cotton dressing.

I forgot to ask, what type of first aid kit is this? 1 person, small group, large group? 2-3 days or 1 week?

Preacher, I would say single person, maybe small group. Something that will fit into a pack, and last awhile if needed.

Gotta have a military field dressing if the size of the kit allows it, especially if you like to hunt. Even if YOU don't like to hunt, you might run into other people who do. They're more compact than civvy pressure dressings of the same size, and the extra tough waterproof cover is sterile on the inside, making it ideal for airtight dressings on penetrating chest wounds.

The kit is on it's way to mneedham now! I had to resist my temptation to add some OTC drugs to the mix, and went with a few items geared around keeping clean. Two items, but related and small.

1- Small bottle of hand sanitizer
2- Package of sterile latex gloves

Both of these, in my opinion, are hugely important tools for keeping yourself healthy, and for keeping wounds clean.

Thanks! It hit me after I sent it out, though, that I should've added at least a freezer bag to hold all this! Totally neglected a decent pouch/container. Gives someone else a good one though!

I added a small roll of duct tape, a 5" X 9" combine dressing, and a triangular bandage/splint/sling. Where does it go next?

Good additions! Sending the info your way soon! There's still some folks that I'm trying to get info from... they might get skipped...

Still need addresses from:

denverco
RescueRiley
Flotsam
Sharp Eye

I'll contact these folks individually if they don't find their way here.

Just Got Back From A Trip To FL and found the Kit wailing for me.

I am going to Add Some 4X4s, a telfa pad,a roll of gauze cling and some 1/2 inch medical tape. I have to look around but I think I have an empty nylon First aid kit pouch that will be cool to hold the kit. "I Think I Need A Bigger Box"

I Think when its done we should send ti to someone with a vacume sealer and seal the components for waterproofing and compactness.

By the way who do I Send it to Next.

I will have that info coming to you shortly!

If you, or whoever gets it next, wants to briefly list what items are in it so far, that would be neat!
