Hi everyone :)

I've been meaning to make a low profile sheath for a while now for camping/bushcrafting so I thought it was a good excuse to have a go at making my first butterfly sheath. Here's what I made:

I've made quite a lot of mistake that I hope to rectify in the future. I searched for the butterfly sheath tutorial thread but I couldn't find it for some reason... If anybody has a link for that please let me know :)

Also I made this today out of offcuts. Thanks for reading everyone! :)

Lookin' good! Loving the Badger as well! :)

Good clean work. Something to be very proud of. If you are so inclined, Chris' DVD with me demonstrating covers pouch sheaths from A to Z. Every single step included from making the pattern to finished sheath. I don't sell em but he does. Link in my sig line will hook you up. "Basic Pouch Sheaths" is the title.

Also there is a photo tutorial somewhere on this forum which will guide you through pattern making for butterfly style sheaths. I'll try to find it and add a link.

Edit: here is the link

Thanks for your kind words everyone! Son of Badger is simply the best bushcrafting knife I have. I would recommend it to absolutely everyone!!

Paul thank you very much for the suggestion and link. I'll be on to those now! :)

I was just gonna say that. Great tooling and very nice overall. Just nice work!!

I find the stamping amazing, great looking sheath. My only other comment would be that I think a wider belt loop, would make for a more stable ride on your belt in the field. John

Thanks John :)

Its currently 1.5cm (0.6 inch) wide but what would you reckon is best? 0.8 inch or a full inch?

Thanks for your help.

Belt loops for a smaller knife like this.........2.4CM to 3.5CM (or all you have room for up to 3.5CM).

Not bad for a guy who doesn't speak metric, huh?

Very nice Kaizo! I like to taper my loops so they are wide enough to have stability at the top, but narrower towards the bottom.

Chris

Thanks salolan! :)

That's an interesting idea with the belt loop! I'm thinking of making an oval belt loop next so I think I will give that a go after that one! :)

Thanks for your help.
