First attempt at damacus

Better to be lucky than good sometimes.
5 1/2 inch kitchen/utility blade, 270 layer random pattern, Aldo 1084FG and some of Ray Kirk's 15N20, heat treated, tempered and giving a quick buzz on the 220 grit belt and lightly etched to see what I had. I am pretty psyched.

Probably not quite as fun starting with a 6 inch long billet on a small press.

I do 4" long billets and stack em high. Works mo better for me

Looking good Joe!

Assuming that your press is in good working order and at the correct pressure, you may need to make some smaller dies to make it perform better. It is all about force of the press applied to an area of the billet.

Got an edge on it and it is sanded to 600 so far. I did end up with one little booger on one side of the blade, but thats not bad for a first time doing EVERYTHING wrong.
